Upzz for this thread again!

Cotton Top Tamarin

Another one from the zoo. I have never been able to get a good shot of this fella as he's fast and always moving and I'm too slow. Well, this time I chance upon a feeding bowl, managed a steady shot.

Beautiful 600 photos

Well I always knew I would love one of those 600 f5.6 lenses and now I see photos to prove it to me. Today we finally have some sun so I am hauling the big stuff outside to shot some frames to share with the group. Plus I will take shots of the mounted lenses and lenses unmounted. Tally-ho

Guido, your images are stunning. Sharp to the tiniest feather and well composed and lit.

Great images eurostar. I am seriously jealous of that 600mm lens.

+1! It's nice to see someone put that 600 to really good use.

Thanks, to all. It's a truly great lens indeed, and not too big or heavy.
If the focus ring would be placed some inches more toward the front, it would be a joy to hand held. Sadly, as is, it's somehow difficult to be used without a tripod.

The Sigma 500/4.5 was in a Canon mount. It's a sweet lens too with the right person behind the camera and very unforgiving in the wrong hands - like most super telephotos.

You cannot go wrong with either lens. It requires budgeting to buy either though! I was in the right place at the right time for all of my FA* purchases.

Marc
I hope can get photos this good from my Sigma 300/28 I just got. I know the FA 300/2.8 is a sharper lens than the Sigma 300/2.8 but I thingk it should hold its own against the Sigma 500/4.5, I hope at least. Just need to get a bit accustomed. I really it like so far though. I'm shooting with my back-up K10 right now cause I just sent the K7 in with an SR issue. Can't wait to get it back.

I posted these in " post your photos " already so you may have seen them already.
Anyway, I quess its time I joined the club. Hope its alright.

BTW. I will ditto on the shots eurostar

Their both about 50% crops

I have followed through this thread hoping for someone to show pics using the Pentax 400-600 F8-F12 mirror type lens. Has anyone any experience of this lens, please

They sure are! Well, this isn't the A 600 5.6--just my $88 Pentax Medium Format 330 5.6. There is no composition involved, since I set the camera up on a tri-pod, near the feeder, then shoot from afar with a remote, trusting the bird to position itself favorably for the shot. But I think this shows this MF lens has potential for birding. Some cropping in this shot.

Beautiful shot Jewelltrail! I am envious of that nice set up you have. I am still waiting for sunshine to last long enough for me to set up and take some shots. I have an aversion to getting my equipment rained on or having my tripod blown over by 50 mph winds. Ah, the plains states!
