Redpolls at my feeder,
K-5, SMC a-400, 800 ISO, F8 1/500
Cross posted from post your photos.

At it's minimum focusing distance, a redpoll almost exactly fills the frame on an SMC A-400. Pentax must have planned it that way.

These are great Norm, they are very similar to our Lesser Redpolls.

Love the Coppersmith Barbet Ken - looks like they are preparing their new nest so a place to keep an eye on !

Lovely Redpoll shots Norm - personally I'd always try to keep the feeder out the shots if at all possible (plant a small tree close by perhaps) ?

Great shots, Norm. I particularly like the first one in the post. The reflection is like a mirror!

Thanks guys for the nice comments.
Frogfish, the adults take turns to appear only 3 times for the 4 hrs, the female adult appeared 2 times and suddenly flew str8 into the nest, not much chance to shoot. I guess tommorrow the chick would have fledged...

Managed to snap few flight shots, the below pic is one of the most presentable one..

I didn't think the A-400 is capable of producing such sharp images.

Great shots.

Thanks for commenting.

Even more impressive I think with the long shots is that these shots had to be cropped at least 50% so these images are enlarged a fair bit, and it' s till sharp, the one to one is quite acceptable considering the distance. The sad news is I used the 1.7 converter and didn't get acceptable results, so sharp but not 1.7 x sharp.
