KilllDeer

I guess it is a very common bird. However, it was new to me. Sigma 500/4.5

Nice. A couple eagle shots. Cloudy end of afternoon, and pretty well as far away as the 300 will work. About 200 meters away the female was sitting on some eggs in a nest.

Very nice Greyser and Derek.
You have found a active nest Derek?
Do you know how long she has been sitting?
All you need are some blue skies for your Raptor shots..

yes, indeed!

FWIW, Here's a gloomy day test shot with the Sigma 500/4.5 and my newly-acquired used Sigma 2x TC.

This subject takes the cake in terms of missed opportunities for me. Running along the banks, squaking that god-awful noise, spooking all the wading birds and ruining all my careful attempts to sneak up on them. I'd prefer a pellet gun for these folks so I can shoot the rest of the species with my camera. But hey those are good shots especially with what looks like some overcast conditions!

LOL. And you are right: the day was unusually gloomy for LA .

I got a shot of her on the 7th of april, so at least a week and a half. I'm not sure how long they incubate before hatching. It could be 3-4 weeks.

And yes, blue sky would be nice.

I try once a week to look back at last years pics of the same week and heres a few from 21/04/2012,
I might try to re-edit these this weekend because I hope to improve each year in taking photos and editing..
I seem to only look for wildlife on weekends and I really need to change that this year !! Sigma/120-400mm..

Great shots, Travis. Was it wild or captive bird?
