and yes they can swim, but seldomly, I'd say to escape from you the "predator" with a big Eye ?
I actually got another shot but this one is out of focus. I need more practice on DA300+F1.7TC

Thanks for identifying. I never see a woodchuck before I came to US!

Tamron 400 f4. I'm enjoying this lens again. What the equipment does drives what we shoot, so having a manual lens where I have to open the aperture to focus, then stop down, shoot, makes me look for situations where I can hide, setup and shoot.

Point Pelee Warbler Migration

Excellent shots here on this thread people!! I had a couple of days in Point Pelee this past weekend to try to catch some Warblers. Great birding but terrible photography as the weather was overcast, cold and grey with strong winds. Really flat lighting. Fill flash required! Here are a couple of shots. Taken with the Pentax K5 IIs and Pentax DA 300 mm F4.

Magnolia Warbler

Yellow Warbler

I'd have to post a couple I made recently ith either my Sigma 120-400mm or F* 300mm , but I am very curious on how to shoot with a flash with a telephoto ?? When I put a flash ,I cant have shutter speeds more than 1/180... what am I missing ?
thanks...

Thanks dane.dawg and derekkite!

Weevil, I was using the Pentax AF 360 flash on high speed sync on the Pentax K5 IIs.

Gray Catbird

I've been trying to get a photo of this bird for years. I find them very skittish and usually don't sit around long posing! Usually lurking in the bushes and not out in the open too much either. Taken with The K5 IIs and Pentax DA 300 mm f4.

Thanks Greyser - I know what you mean and wondered about the same thing. It does seem like there may be some in the fine feather details, not sure. It's the first time I've wondered about moire since shooting with the K5 IIs. May be just the right colour, texture, lighting combinations, as I don't see the same thing in any other photos. Haven't really pixel-peeped the shot to that detail, perhaps I should.

If there is any moire, you would sure have to look very hard at the image. I don't know why anyone would purposely hunt for it anyway.

And what a beautiful shot of a beautiful bird! The shot is showing the true capabilities of the IIs and the DA*300 along with a good dose of an operator who knows what he is doing.

By the way, if anyone would think there might be a moire problem, if you use Lightroom 4 or Dxo v8 they both have simple moire removal tools.
