Oh, you're right... we had White Throated singing earlier in the morning, I never thought to give it a good look.
I experienced the same thing this AM.. I am wondering if they could imitate the song of the White-Thraoted Sparrows, because the song I heard this AM was was kinda out of tune compared to what I am used to for a white-throated sparrows... And I check around, and could not find any white-throated sparrows, only lots of white-crowned ones...

OK, here's a White Throated, the little guys are hanging out together...
Even on this one I am not convinced... Here are some White-throated sparrows (not very good - dark or blurry - pics sorry)

This one on the ground is a mature adult

Sigma 120-400mm

this other one is a 1 year adult

F* 300mm F4.5 + AFA1.7x

Notice the well defined area on the throat...

I changed the pic when I realized I posted the wrong one, but thanks for the nice pictures. The one I got is less than thrilling.

Took my DA*300 to the zoo today. Pandas are making their debut here in Toronto. This appears to be my first popular Flicker photo, having been viewed almost 600 times since posting 8 hours ago.

We had a great time. At two locations we had a good view of Osprey pairs, either level or looking down into the nest. I wanted to see the Sigma 500mm, and now want one for certain. The first two shots were near Woodbury Creek just north of Ainworth BC, the next ones were on the Kootenay River just west of Nelson. Somehow I think the procedure in the third photo was a bit unsatisfying for all concerned, except us watching.

Finally I have some shots to share at here too.

I met this quite rare bird. (had to ask from my friend what it is, because I did not know its specie...)
