Indoors, with flash on a very wet and grey day:

No walk today

Close up:

Signs of spring

And now back to our regular progamming:

Nice shots, Sandy. That lens is a winner.

Hi Everyone.
We've just returned from a safari in Mala Mala private game reserve, in the Sabi Sands region in South Africa. Fantastic!!! I'd recommend this trip to anyone, especially if you want to see African game "up close".

Here are a few of the first photos I've processed:
#1 & #2 - Tawny eagle
#3 - Adult lioness
#4 - Male leopard
#5 - Vervet monkey
awesome shot...poor turtle!!!!!

Cross posted from post your photos.

We have at least 6 baby Chickadees hanging around the feeder.

With occasional visits from a female Purple Finch

six or seven young Blue Jays

And more rarely two hummingbirds...

But mostly it's chickadees...

Sergy - congrats on the Owl, it seems you got really close !

Swip - love the Puffin, wonderful birds !

Greg - seems like you had an amazing trip ! SA is high on my bucket-list too (we have good friends, who we are saying goodbye to next weekend as they return to Cape Town after assignment here). Love the cats (esp. the Leopard in the tree) and the Roller.

Iitoo - really enjoy your shots of the Eastern Crimson Sunbird and Little Spiderhunter.

Norm - Excellent Purple Finch.

Thanks Amy. All part of the natural life-cycle, I suppose.

Thanks, Kevin, it certainly was amazing. I'd go back there in a heartbeat.

Macro with my Sigma 500mm F/4.5

Not a true macro lens but the lens costs enough money so I hoped it could do macro before I bought it.

My first half-decent bird in flight. Sure, it's no Bald Eagle, but it's a start

For our friends who do not know, these are savage birds. They are well known to attack people walking along paths near the trees they nest in. The bad months are September and October, just coming up. They hurt when they get you.

Not nearly as savage as the Peregrine falcon which took exception to me rock climbing near its nest high up a cliff at Mount Arapiles a few springs ago. It had me hunkered up against the rock unable to move for ten or fifteen minutes while my head was repeatedly dive-bombed at frightening speed.

Magpies are *nothing* by comparison!
