Things have been picking up a bit on the bird front. Gangs of Robins, Grackles and Starlings predominate but some more interesting varieties make fleeting appearances. IDs have been something of a challenge.
Although it's not in its dramatic breeding colors, I was really excited to find this Indigo Bunting in the park.
I'm not sure about this pair: I think at least one of them is the female bunting. They were clearly companions.
A Flicker (
with head ;~)
Mockingbirds have been largely absent--I had to drive out to the country for this one.
Also this flycatcher (Peewee?)
Catbirds have been regulars at home, feasting on the Virginia Creeper berries.
This guy (a vireo?) shows up for Creeper berries too but very briefly and moves very-o fast.
