I can imagine we dont have any Ice skills unless you go to the snow fields, You should get some great stars at night , What sort of wild life do you have in the area ?
Sorry about the late response!

All I can say, we got plenty of Santas reindeers around here. They are even on the wrong side of the "fence" in the iron mine, which can create some fun moments now and then. There's a lot of wildlife of course around here, but I'm not really the guy to ask in-depth about the subject. Though, with the help from the DA* 300mm, I will try to get a lot more educated in the matter since I can snatch them from far.

Drew - I've been away for a week and am just trying to catch up. Your 'Dogfight Maneuvers' is a superb catch ! I was willing some Black Eared Kites to at least try something similar, down in Hong Kong, but they weren't in the slightest bit interested !

Playing around with my 'new-to-me' used D3s on a short break accompanying my wife to Hong Kong (free room and I get to go birding whilst she works - as it should be, right guys)

I messed up the settings big time, forgetting that 'fine jpgs' (the setting I use now when I know I'm going to be shooting high 100s or 1,000s of shots) on this older camera is not going to produce the file sizes I'm now used to (50-70MB). Instead I ended up with 3-5MB files that don't really take much cropping and lead to a real loss of detail Stupid Bug. that I am, lesson learnt. Still there are some which came out OK. Here's the first I've processed. Have I overdone the vignetteing ? I think I have but I like to add it (negative or positive high priority) when I get dull grey skies.

Took a walk this morning with my humble Q7 and DA*300.
Red Tailed Hawk

Great Egret

Black Necked Stilt

Coopers Hawk. Probably would have missed him but for his calling.

Excellent work Larry !

I've been very very impressed with some digiscoping shots I've seen first hand recently (taken with Nikon V1 and a bevy of Sonys, on Nikon & Swarovski scopes).

Good work Travis and Kulas.
