The first sunset ever with my new HD 55-300 WR. I just received it today, and it is the first time I have used my K-30 with any automatic settings. I need to figure out how best to use AE Lock, because there are times I like to set the exposure, then recompose to move the composition around. I've already figured out I don't like the default AF zone setting, so I changed it to "Spot". It is certainly a huge change from the plethora of 70s and 80s era manual lenses I've always used on my ILCs. Just part of the learning curve. I'll play with the Scene modes some, but probably will go back to full manual or pseudo-manual with the exception of focus.

My wife having her photo taken by her friend whilst we were trekking up in the mountains of Hunan, China. This with the Sigma 500/4.5. I was about 50m away when I spotted the light. Look at the irony of my friend having a 5DIII over her shoulder but taking the shot with my wife's Samsung mobile phone

I've been so bored lately, I hurt my back and can't get out, but it's almost ready to go. Seems every day I just shot a couple of images, just to stay in touch... here's the best of the week.

This series, half shot with the A-400 and half shot with the FA 1.7 TC and DA*60-250.

Finches, Blue Jays and Chickadees are my fate. (Accept what you can't change.)
Excellent series, Norm. Though your subjects may be limited, you may as well excel at what you do shoot.

Reptilezz, excellent Kingfisher photos. I'm jealous that you have these in your backyard!

Gary, beautiful snow buntings and Leucistic Dunnock (never heard of that bird before).

Orange-crowned Warbler and Ruby-crowned Kinglet with the K-3 and DA*300mm. Both heavily cropped, of course. I'm very interested in the new Pentax HD WR 1.4 teleconverter. Wish it wasn't so expensive, but if the reviews are good I plan on getting one!
Lovely shots and colors FW Birds.

Terrific images Amy. I've never been able to get close enough for a picture of one that is anything more than a blur with a red splotch on top.

Great capture Amy - one started visiting my feeders but it has only been here a couple times and I didn't have my camera ready. Majestic birds.

Amy and Travis, those are stunning pics. Maybe one of these days I'll graduate from sparrows and juncos. I did manage to get a good pic of a Pileated with my Vivitar 75-205 last week, but it had its back to me, so all I got was a pretty detailed view of its feathers before it flew away. I was pretty close to one with my 55-300 today, but it was on the other side of the tree, and flew away before I could get a better view. I'll just keep trying
