Larry, your description is interesting - they have the colouring of a dove, a small crest somewhat like a parrot, and the barred plumage and wings typical of a raptor. thanks...it was my husband's great granfather's so it has very special meaning to him...i need to do it justice and spend more time...he just got it last night so wanted to take a few quickies

Well, you're in luck. I can see a nicely framed picture of that beautiful old violin for a birthday present. It will be fun to stage the piece and photograph it...

going to try to get it refurbished so maybe they can give us some info when we do that

It's helpful - in this case the bird kindly waited long enough until I got my DA55-300 out of my backpack and swapped it onto the camera, which was very accommodating indeed!
