These shots were taken from a car using a Kirk window mount, Still haven't taken the plunge and got a K-3, but I am considering it.

Ah, the trials of a wanna-be wildlife photographer. Even cheating doesn't work.

Earlier today, under 100% overcast skies with the K-30 and 55-300 WR:

All afternoon, since the clouds broke and the sun bathed the landscape:

I can even hear the birds singing all around the house. Sigh.

Tony

Here's another from my morning outing at Mason Neck Wildlife Refuge. The nest location meant a two mile walk through the snow and ice. The two miles were a lot easier finding the nest with no snow and ice. I waited on the edge of a marsh for this guy/gal to land.

What a great shot! The out of focus branches in the foreground really give the image nice depth. Love the eyes being mostly closed - just enough to peek at you!
Thanks Stan. The Owl was indeed deep into the tree. I must admit, I hung around in the freezing cold hoping it would open it's eyes a little more, but that was the best I could get before I left due to hypothermia!

Gary, your pictures are razor sharp as always. The Starling is actually quite beautiful when you get a good look at it. They're not so popular here in the States. The Gull seems to be completely in focus as if you have a couple feet "depth of field". How do you do this? What magic lens are you using?
Thanks, Bob

All of my squirrels have disappeared. Probably because I keep calling them tree rats.

I have shot a lot of Kestrels in the past and it is one of their favorite places to perch. It has been rare for me to see them on a tree actually.

WAIT A MINUTE!
Is Otis like the movie dog Lassie, where about 10 dogs played the same character?

This Otis doesnt look like some of the other Otises I have seen in other pictures.

For example in this post with Otis on the Christmas card, he does not have the the ear tufts!
