Our neighbors' cat follows me and our dog around on our walks. He also likes to come over and visit from time to time. Friendly lad, he is. K-30 + 55-300 WR.

A few bird pics I was able to get with the K-30 and 55-300 WR. Dazzling bright sunlight always helps. The one that got away was pretty spectacular: I was out by the garage, and as I came around the corner of the house, two male Cardinals were fighting mid-air over the feeder. As soon as they saw me raise the camera, they made for parts unknown. Drat!! The little Titmouse was one of two that were sitting in the Maple tree, just a few feet away from me, twittering for all they were worth. Quite a melodic show, actually. The little bird giving us the moon was a Nuthatch, I think.

Damn I love those little birdies, and your shots are always the best! The only bad thing is that each new one you post brings another round of explaining to Otis why you won't trade one for a box of squirrels. Last time, he said that if you will just send him an egg, he will personally sit on it until it hatches.

Regards!
Thanks Rupert, Otis still never change, still likes kingfishers.

Lovely shot kengoh. Lovely snowy fotogaffer, I saw a snowy when I was up at my parents in Pennsylvania but I wasn't close enough to take a good shot, its partially what prompted me to get something longer than my trusty DA 55-300mm

K5 600mm ISO100 1/125".

Shot hand held in my garden whilst standing.

Some minor pp and shot with DA55-300 with 2X Teleplus MC.

I am really pleased with my images at 600mm, but this one just stood out from the pack by a country mile so I had to post it. The image has not been cropped. It is full size as shot.

I wish that the 55-300 had a bit more throw on the manual (quick shift) focus ring as it would make focusing on the fly just that little bit easier.

Last summer I had a hummer on the feeder, and as soon as I stepped around the side of the house it took off.

To my amazement, the little bird flew toward me, and landed in the tree above.

To my disappointment, I could not focus. I had to back up. So this is the most you can fill the frame with the lens.

Here's also a reduction of the crop. Question: Is this pretty normal for 300+ lenses?
That is a disadvantage with the A 300/4 min focus distance is 4 meters the A 300 / 2.8 version is 3 meters and the A400 / 5.6 is 2.8 meters The best 300 is the DA 300 / 4 it can focus down to 1.4 meters ,just to give you an idea that not all 300 mm lenses are the same

What! "shot from your car with a Sigma 500/F4.5 handheld"!! That's just wrong..... from now on you must have a whining 2 year old on your lap bouncing up and down while doing handheld shots so that you can get out of focus pictures like us normal people...

Very nice and sharp picture....

I like the comment, Westy! I can imagine it. We are pretend grandparents to a 1 1/2 year old, and it brings back the memories when nothing else was important whenever Marc or Tanya got into it.

Spring 2014

The Adaptall 300/5.6 again. A sign that the bigger lenses may emerge from hibernation soon ;~)

K5 600mm ISO100 1/200".

Shot hand held in my garden whilst standing.

Some minor pp and shot with DA55-300 with 2X Teleplus MC. Adjusted Exposure by +0.83.

This one also stands out from the pack. Surprised me how good it turned out. The image hasn't been cropped. It is full size as shot.

If the 55-300 had a bit more throw on the manual (quick shift) focus it would be a brilliant lens.
