Another Kookaburra from my backyard, managed to get pretty close. I only shot the head since it was sitting on an ugly chain link fence.

500mm on the Sigma 150-500mm OS HSM & K5II, uncropped

very nice!!!

I'm guessing maybe 10 meters. The first one was taken at full reach 350mm, the rest were taken at 198mm, I really didn't need the 1.4, but I had great light so no need to take it off.
I'm really impressed with the quality produced with the DA*60-250. I may have to get that lens over the DA*50-135. It would fill the space nicely between the DA*16-50 and the DA*300mm I'm thinking....

try again ...

The 300+ club is always one of my favorites to view. Unfortunately, my Pentax 300A* f4 is my most under-utilized lens. My eyesight and wearing glasses makes manual focusing difficult. But today I made it a point to use it on a visit to Niagara Falls State Park, USA. There's always cooperative birds and squirrels there, from the tourists that feed them.

DA*60-250 and DA 1.4 TC
9 Aperture priority - ISO 400

From today's trip to Algonquin Park.
When you arrive at the bird feeding parking lot, and there's no birds or squirrels to be seen, there might be a pine Martin somewhere nearby.
Nice pictures of the marten.

This morning shoot the Mangrove Pitta again, but this time using Sigma 500 F4.5, the previous trip was shot by DA*300.

#1. bird at his habitat

#2 on a clean perch

#3 having his meal
Stupendous shots of a 'dream' bird Ken !

I've been reading a bit about this Mangrove Pitta down there in Sing. Some people think he is 'too' friendly and maybe an escapee ? I've got to say I'm not seeing the feather damage if that is the case. He seems to be in fine fettle and enjoying your meal-worms !

Another Junco

Had some sun recently again - rare lately. Not much to see other than this Junco. This may be my last shot with the K5 IIs which I have sold now that I am using the K3.

We haven't seen a Junko yet this year, it's about time they made it up here.

Thanks swip - nice shot - they are tough to get a good exposure especially in the snow like you did here.

Thanks Norm - I would gladly trade the Juncos for some finches, grosbeaks, grey jays, or some of those eagles from out west, etc - you get the idea - we all get tired of looking at the same old, same old in our respective locales!
