However I've been popping in, enjoying some of the really enjoyable great work here (love seeing all these birds I've never heard of !), and dispensing 'Likes', as opposed to quoting/commenting on shots, as I'm lazy that way !

Here are a few more of the processed shots from Tengchong/Gaoligongshan in Yunnan, South China (bordering Burma) :

Two shots just to set the scene (overlooking the mountain village I stayed in)

Blue-Fronted Redstart

Another shot of the Rusty-fronted Barwing

Red-tailed Laughingthrush

Another shot of the Red-faced Leocichla

Finally my new favourite Bulbul (not usually my favourite birds but this one is lovely), the Red-vented Bulbul !
That is a great series, Kevin!

I've been interested in the lens too for quite some time. It was for sale here on the forum a few weeks ago and I happened to see it and say I wanted it first so I feel quite lucky.

Giving Natural Selection an easy opportunity! Great shot though.

Grèbe à bec bigarré / Pied-billed Grebe (Podilymbus podiceps) - This one appeared unexpected close to me, but many twigs in between... but was able to have it in focus !
I wonder if there a way to remove the branches effets (tint) in Photoshop Lightroom?

he was very shy... I had to hide behind a fallen tree for a while before he came back close enough... I was lying flat on the ice (my belly got frozen!)
I attended CMR from 1957 to 1960. Beautiful area of Quebec, and very nice bird photos. Merci!

Lightroom has some corrections that may help. If you are using 5.4 (upgrade as of today), there are some camera/lens corrections that you can use, in the Develop module.

Those are terrific, does that combination require a bright day? Seems like another "must have" on my endless photo list!

Also curious about how the 1.4 TC works with the DA*300 since the 300 is a slow to focus lens - how that combination auto-focus perform?

The AF seems good with the 500 and Da*300 and the more light the better. The first shot where with a monopod since I was testing this combo.
Its the first day I have seen the YHB this year so a couple of shots without the TC, hoping to get some flight shots Sunday.

More great captures Travis. When you go out for birds like the YHB do you generally know where they are and camp out waiting for one to appear or do you move around to find them? I think my city upbringing would drop my chances of finding one close to zero if I moved around.

I haven't given the combination a good workout yet, but the DA*300 seems to work just the same with the 1.4RC as it does without.

Bob I live in a small town (POP 4000) and most of the locations are common Oxbows so I know where the birds, I have been into photography for 4 years and it seems I take the same photos year after year but at least the photos seem to get better.
Last year I was lucky enough to meet derekkite and Alistair | Exploring Kootenay Lake who showed me some amazing photographic opportunity only a couple of hours away which brings new life to the same old same old.
