Daytona9,

Dane.dog's photo is of a Calliope Hummingbird male in aggressive display. I think they are the only hummer with streaky throat plumage that actually can be distended at will.

Great photo! It is hard enough to get a BIF when it is a hummer, but showing a display also. Karma was right!

Tried a new background today and think I hate it. Tried to find a green sheet to no avail, sometimes it sucks living in a small town.

Very nice. You have frozen the wing movement quite nicely. Care to share your technique?

Derek, this has been a lot of trial and error but I think I have it worked out except for the background.
F-16, ISO 200, SS-180, 3 flashes set to 1/16 power and a lot of frustration trying to focus on these amazingly fast birds.

A few from today. Blue winged teal, a lesser Yellowlegs and Yellow warbler. The warbler was with a flash extender.

Some photos from the DA* 300mm f4 + HD 1.4x TC... (420mm) (crossposted from the HD TC club)

All Handheld... All a f5.6 (wide open)

I am still impressed by the results ...

---------- Post added 2014-05-19 at 01:45 ----------

Some other shots from the FA* 250-600mm (no TC... tomorrow, I will test the HD TC with it !)

Superb work on the Hummers though Travis. Looks like you've cracked that aspect - though agree, a camo bg isn't the best

Agree--very impressive. I'm envious of the Oriole--they're rare here (except at Camden Yards ;~)

Excellent shooting everyone! A couple from today. K3, DA* 300 and HD 1.4X TC handheld. First time seeing one of these for me - Common Yellowthroat.
