Here are a couple shots of I took of a bobcat just a couple miles from my house.

Look at the way the DA300 catches the detail.

Gotta love this lens.

So I guess you don't live in the East Coast Megalopolis. Cool to have such creatures nearby. Nice work!

Wow - just wow! Bobcats around here are about the most elusive critters we have - what great shots you got. The lighting is also perfect. Congratulations!

In some of these images, I'm hard pressed to tell whether it's the A 400 or DA60-250 with 1.4TC. That speaks volumes for the A 400.

I can't believe I'm still bringing it, the AF on the DA* is so much more convenient.

In images like the one below, you pretty much have to focus manually, because of branches etc. and it's much easier to manually focus a lens that's designed to be manually focused.

.
Really nice shots of the bobcat. The most threatening thing we get around our parts are the magpies . Oh! and of course some of the dealiest snakes in the world, but we seldom see those, thank God.

Thanks for commenting... there are a lot of little birds like him hopping around in bushes from time to time, they usually don't hold still long enough to get an image.

There is a fox that goes through my backyard so this morning I set up a portable blind along with a Better Beamer. I have not found a formula for using the Better Beamer. It seems like a trial and error process. The back of my yard where the fox comes out of the woods is dark and say 70 feet away here the flash needs to be full tilt. Close up, like this bluejay close to minimum focus distance needs low flash power - here about 1/16. Is there a better method than trial and error? Are there any guidelines to use as a starting point?
