There are a pair behind our place, I've heard it a few times, Tess has seen it a few times, we've never been lucky enough to get one in the viewfinder. Good shooting.

I have the advantage of being able to set up on the porch and go about my business (or just sit back with a cup of coffee) waiting for them to show up in that dead white oak. Kinda cheating, I know, but no way I'm going to try and chase them with that rig ;~) They've been very active lately--fledging I suspect.

Nice shorebirds, goubejp!

Where can I purchase a dead oak tree like that? I'm a bigger cheater than you even, in the winter I screw tree branches to my deck so the little guys have some place to land, if we're going to get into who's the bigger cheater. Walking around with big heavy gear is just way over-rated.

Sorry, I cannot help, but in the far east I have seen concrete versions, so someone has a product available that is kind of like it.

Hear we have a famous tree, it was the tree where the founding of our state happened in 1836. It was old then, so now they filled all the holes the white ants etc have made with cement so it still looks like a tree.

Not really harassing, just doing what Swifts do.

Outstanding shots, guys!

A few days ago, walking in our local park in the evening, I found a nest. Because it is a hollow in a tree I thought at first that it belongs to woodpeckers. Today I discovered who is the real owners.

A few from the last couple days.

This crow has a nest about 40 yards from our home and didn't like me looking.

The water is high.

I like that high water photo. Good to look at, it confuses the brain and makes it want more
