I'll be seeing Travis in a few hours, and I want to tell him how much he would be missed on this forum. I find his shots to be a standard to reach for, as well as consider him a friend. Would I be remiss to say that others feel the same?

I'll miss him for sure, but, a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.

I feel like we should be holding a wake or something. Take a moment to celebrate the Pentax life of dane.dawg

I guess I wasn't clear. I would welcome his shots here no matter what he shoots with.

My understanding is that this thread is open to anyone with a lens of 300 mm or more to post. I don't know of any gear restrictions at all.

True. I would like to see what he gets whatever he shoots with. It's the images that count.

Wooo hooo ! Got my Pentax-K f:5.6, 400mm back from Eric!

It had an issue with a loose ring inside, so I sent it off to Mr. Hendrickson on the recommendation of forum members. Less than three weeks later and the mailman delivered it to my doorstep today. It looks absolutely magnificent and the first test shots with it are most admirable, indeed. I've never owned a prime lens anywhere close to this focal length so it's going to be a real learning curve, for sure. I'm amazed and surprised at the sharpness, contrast and saturation of this monster hunk of glass! The best Craig's List deal I've ever made.... $45.00!

Hand-held, full frame, f:11. I forgot to dial in the correct focal length on the first one.

One question, if I may. When reading the EXIF data, it says "400.0mm (35mm equivalent: 600mm)". Explain, please. Does this mean that if I were to use this lens on a film camera, it would be a true 400mm, but with a DSLR, it's actually a 600mm equivalent?

Congrats on that K 400/5.6 dewman.

I have a lot of fun with the M 400/5.6.

Here's one from that lens today.

I used my K-5/Sigma 500mm F4.5 EX DG/Sigma/ EF-610 DG Super to take a couple of shots of a Hornet's nest that was about 20ft up a tree
