I had to replace a contact lens - that shot is so sharp it cut one.

Ditto! Nothing, N O T H I N G will ever take the place of a sharply focused image! Anything less is..... well, simply inferior, regardless of it's other attributes as far as I'm concerned. Excellent image, Swip.

May I suggest wearing glasses when checking in the 300mm club going forward . Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the compliment. Certainly the A 2X-L performed much better than I expected.

I have a Vivitar 75-205mm "Matched Multiplier" as they like to call it, and it too performs well beyond my expectations. It certainly caused me to review my opinion of tele-converters in general, for sure! I got amazing results with it paired to my SMC Pentax-K f: 5.6, 400mm.

Was so excited to spot a lace Monitor cruising through our yard today. I might just have to get a pet one now

All taken with K-3 and Sigma 150-500

and a few birds

What great shots! Looks like the combination of the K3 and Sigma lens works really well! Kind of makes me wish I had bought a K3 with the recent discounts, but I'm actually quite happy with the K5iis. I suspect that the only thing I'd want to K3 for is the ability to crop a bit more, but I also wonder how much better the AF performance is - especially with focus peaking that everyone seems to rave about. I especially like the close up of the monitor's head.

Thanks Rob, the 150-500 is an excellent lens even at 500mm if stopped down to f8 and the K3 is amazing. You know how it goes though as soon as you buy something the next best thing comes out cough*7Dmkii. However luckily its usually out of the price range.

If I really expected to spend heaps on lenses, I might have gone for Canon. I simply can't justify it unless I give up my day job and try to make a living from photography - something I'd love to do but frankly, making a living from photography is getting to be extremely difficult. I wish I knew how long I have to wait for the release of that Pentax long zoom. I've been thinking of getting the 1.4 TC to go on the DA*300, but maybe it's worth holding on a little longer for that new lens. Likewise, I'm curious about the pricing of the K3, because Pentax usually only does those sorts of discounts just before releasing a new model. I'm not sure what could be done to improve on the K3 though!

Hi guys, how are you all doing? Lots of great images and news (only went back 10 pages but Travis` departure is quite a shock)

It has been a while since I`ve last posted here due to moving to a new house. Also my K5 died after my wife dropped it from the couch.
A few weeks ago I allready picked up a K-3 but somehow it took me until last week to go out and shoot some birds.

The tracking and focussing have indeed great improvements over the K-5 and the 24Mp AA-filterless images are a pleasure to work with (allthough quite large).
Most of the work is done and the smoke is finally settling down so I expect some more spare time for shooting from now on.

Free lunch

Looks like you've got a jungle in your backyard. Great shots.

A few from the K-3 (before I sold it) and Sigma 50-500mm ... looking at these now I'm somewhat regretting that as well.
