As much as I'd like an FA*600 or the Sigma 500/4.5 they're somewhat outside my budget for the moment, so I make do with a Bigma. The bokeh is often a bit blah, but I suppose I can't really complain about the performance, even wide open:

Nice one Spyder. The FA 600mm f4 is way out of my budget also. If I were to sell my Tak 500mm f4.5, Tamron 500mm 55BB, A 400mm f5.6 and my DA* 300mm, I'd be lucky to cover 15% of the cost and I would still need the DA* 300. Oh well. Some day . . .

No, you really can't--terrific resolution in that one! The photo looks just a tad dull on my screen but I guess it was tricky keeping the white patch from blowing out. It's a beautiful bird--what is it?

I did very little PP to the picture which is probably why the colours are perhaps a little flat. Plus it was quite cloudy that day which didn't help.

The bird is a blue tit- very common in the UK.

One taken from a recent local Pentaxian outing to the zoo.
A crop out of a chest to head shot.

I have the A*300/2.8 which I bought awhile ago, and happened to bring it with me to the zoo yesterday for the day on a monopod with a $5 front filter.... first time I've used it (bought it a month or two ago)

Aside from my cursing for the later part of the day, I regreted bringing along the metal case.... though my gf was a good beast of burden, if maybe she grumbled a little.

...I found a lot of the time, it was too long....

I'm thinking a 200mm would have been better.

and the image stabilization wouldn't work properly on the k10d (yes I do know how to use it )

Damn the lense... but i love you

dumdeedee... *looks to see what images he can upload*

straight from the k10d raw into jpeg, the filter was a mistake (I want to blame the filter!)?

On second viewing I really like the second motel shot, Blue.

It may not be bleeding-edge sharp but the rendering in the racoon shot is very nice. goodbuy.

Thanks, I like the shot of the racoon as well, washing and eating its meal I think. I need to get better with the length and manual focus. I think I had shake reduction on at 35mm (as I must have turned the camera off at some point) and at medium strength via debug mode. (face palm..and cries a little inside)

(getting a groundglass screen for my k10d that should work better for seeing the focus transition)

Here are a few from a couple of days ago....K-7 with the A*1200. I haven't been very big on the A series, but it's really nice to use....makes me want to pick up the others...

Only a face a Mom could love....

The herons were taken out in this area by a few hungry eagles, so it's nice to see a few returning now......

Beacon Hill Park....spring is finally here.....
