WOW. The view counter on the ebay page is only 0018. If true, it sounds like nobody knew about it. The 400/2.8 that went in January had closer to 1,800 views at the end.

Yeah it was probably only listed for a couple days, or even less. I bought my K400/5.6 from that store, they are good to deal with.

Someone got a nice lens!!

I think I will add this seller to my favorites on eBay. I haven't added a seller to that list for about 2 years when our local camera specialty store started selling stuff on there. This lens looks like it has been sealed in plastic, stored in styrofoam in the original box somewhere in Japan. Too bad it didn't have any of the rear filters with it. I would figure they are really hard to find. But, WOW what a lens and worth every penny in that condition. Way out of my price range but I can still be impressed with what was offered. No wonder it didn't last long.

I don't think it even sold. Wouldn't there be a bid history and the final price if someone had bought it? All it says is "listing has ended." I hadn't seen this listing. If I had I think my tax refund would have flown to Japan. Perhaps it will surface again.

1000mm @ 1/60

Decided to have a quick play.

This was taken on my K10D with the A* 300mm f2.8, Pentax 2x-L teleconverter and Pentax AF 1.7x teleconverter. Had to use manual focus as the combo refused to lock.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you do a completed listings search, it shows up sold via "Buy it Now"

Guess you can put the tax refund towards some other glass.

Thanks for clarifying. I guess "Buy it Now" auctions don't show a bid history. I'll be able to apply my tax refund to my dad's bail bond after all.

I haven't checked this thread for a while but there have been some great posts of late.

Siva - love your image of that, from a N American perspective, exotic bird. About the monopod I use mine all the time with my 400mm. Seems to work for me.

garyk - Great shots. What species was image #3?

Marc - I've seen that Kildeer before but it always blows me away.

Jan - Your wolf shot is amongst the best I ever seen of its kind. That 600mm is an awesome lens in your hands.

Managed an image of a female Red Wing Blackbird today with the old M 400/5.6.

Dadi, that is extra nice all around coming from the da*300 and a 2x TC. You have the magic touch.

Thanks pcarfan, Dave.

Nice job on that Phoebe Dave. My field guide indicates they are to found in my area but I don’t recall ever having seen one.

Thanks Tom and Lee. That's probably my best bird yet. The DA*300mm continues to impress me.

Oh and, Lee, I'm still getting used to that Giottos monopod but that 72" really does help when shooting up.

SUper Tak 300 f4

Anyone wanting a 300 mm should check out this auction: shopgoodwill.com - #6305419 - Super Takumar 1:4 300mm Pentax Lens w/ M42 Mount - 6/13/2010 3:45:00 PM

This is a rather new auction site and things go cheap. I just received a SMC-A 50mm f1.7 that cost about $8.00. It came with a P3 camera body, zoom lens, bunch of Hoya filters including macro filters, lens cases and a camera bag my wife likes due to it's smaller than average size. Total with $12.00 shipping was $39.00. Site has a search function plus an items just listed. Registration is free but the public doesn't get to list items, just buy from Goodwill stores all over the country.
