Said I was going to part with M,just couldnt do it.Really like both those lens.
Found out M400/5.6 and particular version of SMC 1.4x(L) TC I picked up
couple month ago arent compatible, has this always been the case?

@#*!%^# starling thru A400/5.6 & 1.4L on K20 wide open
I bought a 1.4X L when I first got my 400/5.6 20 odd years ago, and it will not go into the body of the lens. The 1.4X - S is the one to use.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeez ! Its a shame the forums dont auto resize posted photos.

Posting 4,550 pixel files is just rediculous

The howitzer at work again..

First photo of the herons nesting was a surprise - i really didnt think it would come out. Google Earth measured distance at 525 metres. Shot @ 900mm
( with teleneg mounted ) off a monopod

Gulls were all around 130 metres

3 Cormorants perching on dead wood 180 metres

Mallard mum and chick at 95 metres

Oystercatchers at 80+ metres

Lastly, Canada Goose at around 60 metres

Omnitar lenses

Has anyone heard an opinion or seen sample photos taken with any of these models. I have seen them listed on ebay 500mm f5, 800mm f5 and 1000mm f6.3. Also seen them called a Birns & Sawyer. Most are pricey but for one 500/5 at $195 BIN. I thought this forum would be a good forum to ask for opinions.
Alan.
P.S. An internet search turned up a reference to TEWE of Berlin as manufacturer and Birns & Sawyer were the retailer to the movie industry. Still no info on resolution.

Profile of a distant relative

9 aperture blade rounded aperture of the Enna Munchen Tele-Ennalydt 400mm f4.5 at f5.6

Chimps just have that intelligent look to them that I always find fascinating peering into their expressions and eyes.

The L-modell fits the A 400/5.6, but does not seem to fit the M 400/5.6. Even on the A it is a tight fit and one needs to overcome some reluctancy and excert some force - but it works without damage.

Puting my newly acquired Sigma 150-500mm to use. It's not the sharpest picture around, but I'm thinking I might have to give MF a go with this kind of pictures.
Almost a 100% crop and hand held.
