We're going to have to ask you to break out your "make it dull" filter, and while you're at it, if you could make the image a little bit blurry by shaking the shot, that would be great.

Fantastic capture, and wicked sharp.
Second the motion. Now I'm going outside to find my driveway under a bunch of white snow that fell overnight. And cry.

Amazing capture! (The mouse is actually a vole).
Thanks, poor vole

Very blue sky! My first reaction was that they were just too vivid but it didn't take me long to get on board with that. They are terrific!
Thanks, this was the clearest day we've had for a little while.

@Canada Rockies on the flip side we haven't gotten enough of the white stuff and the way it looks we are prepping for a drought year.

A DA* lens means more than just weather sealing. I would say from the images I have seen, not personal experience, tells me the DA* lenses are sharper.
Yes.. as I said in my original post, this promises good in terms of IQ, and also imply WR. The new lens has to be pretty sharp/optically sound for pentax to consider putting a star on it.

yet pentax produced the FA*24mm f/2 ASPH - which has abysmal resolution in the corners even at f/11, and it is also very prone to purple fringing.

I think I will wait and see how this lens stacks up optically.

I feel like I'm constantly defending this lens - I didn't find this true at all on my copy. Very sharp across the frame when stopped down in the slightest, and no more PF than normal.

See the full size shots in my FA24 gallery here: SMC Pentax-FA* 24mm f/2 - a set on Flickr

Anything Photozone says becomes the ultimate truth. Many happy owners can never recover the lens' reputation once PZ has tarnished it.

After reviewing several full sized images from your FA*24mm f/2 flickr page I have only three things to say: #1 your sharpening technique needs work #2 at ISO 100 your K10D is disturbingly noisy in the shadows #3 the FA*24mm f/2 is soft in the corners* - It may be sharp enough in the corners for you, but for me it doesn't cut it**. I stand by my opinion because I have owned 3 of them over the past ten years and none of them impressed me, at all. Photozone merely confirmed what I already knew.

*but in the centre of the image it is actually quite impressively sharp, which is a characteristic that is similar to the DA15mm f/4 ED ASPH Limited

**and the images I looked at on your page had lens stopped down from f/4 to f/16

And very contrasty, bit I think we are a bit far afield talking about a 24mm lens in the 300 + thread

The Pelican is a lesson on how great lighting makes for the finest looking shots. Good work!
