That sounds like a really nice set-up! I have been really impressed with this converter and it looks like the same holds true here with a great shot.

Look who's back for the summer, at least I think so anyway. They haven't put down a deposit for their nesting perch or anything but this one was within 300 yards of it so I think its safe to assume

Our impossible to photograph osprey - one of them at least - showed up at the nest today. They are impossible at the nest because they have strategically located it In a location where you cannot get. Even at 680 mm (1.7 + 400) they are just a blob on the sensor.

Thank you all for the friendly comments. Yes it's a nice set-up I have, on the other hand I'm slower and I have a lot of unsharp pics.

Here is another nest shot from Grey Herons. Same cam & lens combination.

I took a little detour today before work and after some of the stuff I had to do for school and found these two.

I was hiding behind a cottonwood tree trying to get everything ready so I could turn around and have this one in my sights. I went left and apparently should have gone right judging by the branches in the way. This bird of course was not willing for me to change positions so this is what I ended up with. The focus on the tail instead of the beak underscores the importance of the new screen and magnifying eyepiece I am planning on getting.

Not "common" in my part of the world. I've never seen this species before.

don't you just love it when people post "common" things like this. According to my guide, common in asia but non existant elsewhere, not even occasional or accidental any where else in the world
