Beautiful series, great BIF's.
+1 to that.

I recently acquired a Tamron Adaptall BBAR MC 2x TC and gave it a try (in combination with the 300/2.8 (360B). I'm pleased.

Seems to work ok Dave , nice wood pecker

This made me want to try out my A300/2.8 with Af 1,7 TC about 10 meters 500mm @ f5 1000 sec iso 1000 smokey this morning doing lots of back burning in the area gives a smooth back ground with some cropping

What type of bird

Caught this interesting bird on Sunday.

Anyone know what it could be? A hybrid possibly?

It was found with some Canada geese.

f3.5 (not counting the 2 stop TC tax.)

That's a lovely bird, Frank!

Two shots with the DA* 300mm F4, both slightly cropped. The tits were chasing out, probably newly hatched, moths from the tree and flew out to catch them.

That's a couple of beautiful shots you got there. I like the variety of looks they have to them.

Thanks! Yes--I shot from my porch and the feeder is close by--the bird was 10-15 meters away, I guess.

Following on from that, and something that Frank , (the man with an A*1200), mentioned that it is much better to get closer than using longer glass and stick on more converters. Different story over water though.
Generally speaking, this is very true about being closer with long glass, vs. using a TC.

It's been a while - I went back through several pages - it seems the thread is still going strong!

Almost makes me want to dig through the images from last season...

Hi Stan,

Thank you for the vote of confidence! I don't think I did as much in 2012 - will have to review what I have taken and processed from the RAW files.

So would this shot from 2011 with a K10D be a reasonable start? Here's a good example of detail, wide open, some light sharpening because of noise reduction software - ISO 500 on a K10D is not as good as my K5, no question!

EXIF

This was wide open, at 330mm. Subject size: 7-9cm/3"- 4" long. Subject distance was approximately 13'-15'/4m-5m. Some cropping to better frame the subject.

Regards,
Marc

It may be a day or so before I can oblige, and I promise that I shall do so.
Thank you for the kind words!
