Derek - did somone's pet get loose? That's definitely not a BC bird. You'll have to add it to your life list!

Folks have been seeing these guys in that area for a few years. The local birders have it on their list from 2009. I suspect someone keeps them and lets them loose in the summer.

Baby Squirrel After a Rainstorm

Taken last July near Acadia National Park (Maine, USA). I was using a Sigma 140-500 at the time but have since sold it and got the Pentax DA* 300 f/4.

Cheers -

Jerry

Wow great shots Frogfish in spite of the gear issues. Fun story too, would love to go on expeditions like that.
Cheers mate ! Yes I love those birding expeditions - and they are of course very reasonably priced over here too !

Great captures! I've never seen any bittern in my life
Thank you Sergy ! Although not at this distance/views but a couple of weeks ago we had 4 types of Bittern (including 12 Yellows) in one day - all in flight of course !

Excellent! Like Greyser I never seen one IRL.
Thanks TenZ. !

Super, Kevin! At first I thought the first shot was just a teaser ;~) Sympathies regarding the equipment failures--I gather that "the law of general cussedness" (as my uncle named it) applies as much in China as everywhere else.
Cheers Dave ! All were repaired and put back into good working order .. then sold ! Out of those cameras/lenses/TCs only the SIgma 500 and AFA remain and they are in the retailers on consignment.

Bittern are such cool birds, nice work Kevin..
California Quail.
Thanks Travis - love the quail too. The males have such great colours.

That is one strange bird, I swear it looks yo me like a drowned squirrel
Very nice shot!

You sold the 150-500 and got a DA*300?
How do they compare? Are you missing the reach?

Your Dane looks like s/he would much rather you threw something than go click click with that toy of yours. Great otter shots.

Otters shots are amazing, Travis! I recently saw a few, but in Biodome, Montreal

And your dog is very special...

P.S. I'm testing a bunch of 1.4x TCs with my Sigma 500/4.5 today. So far Sigma 1.4x EX DG is winning by a slim margin over non-DG version and my favorite Tamron 1.4x. The Tamron is a bit better with FA*300/4.5 thought.

Yes I miss the reach . . . waiting and waiting and waiting for Pentax to come out with the 1.4X TC.

Very, very cool Ottershots! I`m kinda jealouse here
We have some here but I`ve seen them once or twice. There are excursions one can get on but I don`t like being on a huge craft with 30+ other photogs...

Last week, a redshank backlit by the fading eveninglight. Couldn`t get closer cause I was upwind so this is a little different than usual. Still like it though
