My first day out in the wild, my backyard, with newly acquired Sigma 500. I have been on the hunt for a used one for some time, very few appear. One day, within an hour or two, both Travis and Amy gave me a heads up that B&H had one which I bought. Thanks for the heads up.
For me this was a big $$ purchase and I had been on the fence for some time - is it really worth the money for an amateur photographer.
I thought I would share three versions of the same shot of this beast I found in my yard - all three with no post processing - for othres who may be on the fence.
The first is the full image, second a 100% crop and the third a 200% crop. If you look at the eye of the 200% crop you can see the reflection of the sky, the nearby tree and in the upper right portion is the reflection of my home.
Now this chipmunk was not moving fast but from these shots the answer to the "was it worth it and that much better than what I was using?" - for me the answer was yes.
Thanks again to Amy and Travis for the heads up.
The pictures posted in different WB - do not know why - same shot?
Here's a plug for Michael Tapes and FocusTune 3 which calculates the AF fine focus adjustment - pretty dead on - at least in this shot - +3
