Another Junco

Had some sun recently again - rare lately. Not much to see other than this Junco. This may be my last shot with the K5 IIs which I have sold now that I am using the K3.

We haven't seen a Junko yet this year, it's about time they made it up here.

Thanks swip - nice shot - they are tough to get a good exposure especially in the snow like you did here.

Thanks Norm - I would gladly trade the Juncos for some finches, grosbeaks, grey jays, or some of those eagles from out west, etc - you get the idea - we all get tired of looking at the same old, same old in our respective locales!

Stupendous shots of a 'dream' bird Ken !

I've been reading a bit about this Mangrove Pitta down there in Sing. Some people think he is 'too' friendly and maybe an escapee ? I've got to say I'm not seeing the feather damage if that is the case. He seems to be in fine fettle and enjoying your meal-worms !
Thanks Frogfish, surprised you know of the Mangrove Pitta in SG. It is indeed a very friendly bird, some people even use mobile phone cam to shoot.

Don't Discard Trash

This anhinga couldn't get this rope off. Apparently the bill of an anhinga has a lot of little sharp teeth. Good for predation but bad for certain man made objects.

Here are a few more from watching the USAF Thunderbirds practice. They fly low just over the base so some of the buildings and such get in the way of the photos. Half the fun is hearing the roar of the engines as they scream across the sky so I apologize for not providing that part of the experience. These may not be the best technically but I think they showcase the capabilities of the planes.

Some more from hanging out near the end of the runway where the planes land.
