You could get a Q and OEM adapter for around $400 and be shooting at 1650mm eq with your DA300.
This point of view seems perfect for that setup.
nice setup! I should try that over my 250-600mm !

is the Q10 performs the same as the original Q ?

What are the other accessories you are using ?
i.e. the spotting scope and the liveview thing?

I can see some guy in a white shirt reflected in the owl's eye, as well as a barn.

And it looks like the owl is winking at the guy, too!

The woman handler, the white shirt, said this was an old owl, one of two they keep there. Both were hit by cars at night eating one of their favorite meals, Road Kill al fresco. Here's her peppier sidekick.

Pff, some terribly awesome shots on the last few pages. I`ve been enjoying them all, great work guys!

Got some first timers (for me that is) this week on a boattrip in a national park (wetland area) close to my house:

That photo was with the Q7 but the Q did nicely at base ISO. Q10 should be similar to Q in sensor performance.

The other items are a Pentax Red Dot finder to locate the target easier ( more difficult as the focal length goes up.)

Also an LCD loupe, cheap one for Nikon 1, to help in focus accuracy.

Would love to see this on your 250-600

Great shots

I took along double kit: my K-r with 400m Nestar, and recently acquired Lumix G2 with adaptamatic 300mm (so same field of view). I'll post some comparitive pics for you to see what you think... in the mean time i was pleased with this one of a grey heron in flight with the K-r. Not bad for MF, and a $50 dollar lens.... well hey even a hacker like me gets lucky occasionally full size crop below.

Great shots !
