Lovely - spot on color and tone and nice simple uncluttered composition.

Annual HD clean up

Bunch of long forgotten files - thought the 300mm plus lens Club might like to have a peek.

Love the rendering on the K20D, its superior to K5 in my opinion. Although most people own the K-5/ii/iis a lot of them here int he forum still prefer to shoot with their K10D. What lens are you shooting these pictures with wildman, the exif says m42 or No-less!?

Don't use a conventional telephoto all were taken with scopes;

500mm f/5
560mm f/7.1
1000mm f/8

With these old files I don't remember for sure which was used. I think the Waxwing shot was taken with the 1000mm of birds across the street in my neighbors yard.

Here's one taken with the 1000mm at about 60-80 feet of a Cardinal nestling still in it's nest as I recall...

The colours on K10d are due to the CCD sensor. They are better for colour. They are much worse at ISO 400 and up for noise. CMOS is the better alternative for general shooting, I think. The colour differences are subtle, like the differences between lenses. I do like the look of the CCD sensor, but when I'm out chasing a bird, I would much rather have clean high ISO. Unfortunately, budgets being what they are, I am using my K10d for quite a while longer yet.

I for sure will appreciate K5 and later model, for birding, focussing speed and accuarcy is more important, high iso performance is also as important to me as I use to shoot at high speed for action shot and most of the time the iso can be higher than 1600. the lack of AA filter from K5-IIs and K3 is even better for sharper images. I can trade that anytime for the minor color difference of K10D/K20D.
With K10D/K20D I'll definitely cannot shoot quite a number of birds under shade such as pitta, partridges and kingfishers, even non-action shots.
K10D/K20D for landscape maybe....

The only problem is that with my old k20 a shot like this would be impossible - taken at ISO 6400...
