Now for an endangered species capture....

Was out looking at the sunset the other evening (whilst on holiday in Santorini, Greece) and came across an elusive creature in the wild (F*300 4.5):

I've seen some members here who claim to shoot their 500mm (750mm equivelant) hand held. I just find it hard to fathom without at least some kind of bracing.
The Sigma 150-500 DG OS HSM APO can be shot handheld. In lens OS and a high shutter speed makes it possible. I do have a monopod attached most of the time, but that is mostly for resting. I don't have a ball head or gimbal.

Sun came out for a while so I dropped the Nestar 400mm in my pocket and tootled over to the bird reserve. While I was taking some pics of the egrets this scuttled by...(full sized crop)

Gee getting a good pic of black birds is tough: I bumped the shadows a good amount in faststone. Thought I had a good exposure, lighting was good sun in a good direction. Not toooo bad..

I saw one at the zoo. And she wasn't on the other side of the bars.

The colors are stunning Norm. My A/400 arrived from Alaska yesterday. Looking forward to using this jewel.
