It seems I can not stay away from this club A few photos from this years Bighorn Rut, unfortunately Derek was not able to make it and there was very little headbanging. My opinion on the D7100-300/2.8-1.4TC- Camera is backwards with weird menus but the lens combo works for me. Post processing is also very different! C&C is always welcome.
Don't stay away, these are great.

Yes! Nikon menu is a pain, it's like against common sense. Your results, however, are impressive. My favorite is that of making love with romantic background.

Just an example of domestic wildlife ( i admit it is a terrible misuse for a da*300 )

Very Funny! I got almost the same pic a while ago while trying the HDTC on the 250-600/5.6 !

dsport: Very Nice pictures ! Love them !
maybe I should trade my "heavy" lens with that one !

Thanks.
I also have the FA*250-600/5.6
Because of the light weight of DA560, I am planning to sell the FA* now.

This was a shot I wish I'd used my 60-250 on. That would've set me back a few minutes, having to run to the truck. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out though.

If the pic is heavy cropped, I will do noise reduction. But these three pics have not undergone NR.
Thanks! I'm amazed that the noise is so low for ISO 800.

I looked at all your shots. They are very impressive, really! Are there any handheld shots?

Thanks, at least 5 or 6 pics were handheld.
The Common Kingfisher on a tree, the White-throated Kingfisher on a branch, the Eurasian Magpie with a grasshopper, all Eurasian Magpies, a sparrow insides the trees with green background, the turtle wide open@f5.6 and Heron standing on a wooden bridge were all handheld.
I agreed the handle/foot of the DA560 is a poor design, which is hard to balance well on a tripod.
Indeed, I am using a Sirui VH-10 video head and Sirui VH-350 long plate and the problem solved. This Sirui setup is light weight and more stable than a gimbal head especially in slow shutter speed such as 1/20 or 1/30 sec.
On the other hand, the foot position of the DA560 makes handheld possible, but of course your hands need to be stable enough and have adequate skills to handle a super telephoto.

Best regards.

Thanks. I shoot almost 100% handheld, very occasionally use a monopod with a sidekick, and very rarely - a tripod with the same sidekick. Again, very impressive shooting. Thank you for posting.
BTW: how do you carry the rig?

Well, either the Tamrac super telephoto lens pack or Tamrac backpack Expenditure 8 if overseas.

I use 2-points CarrySpeed shoulder strap. it is very convenient and let me start shooting almost momentarily. My rig is slightly shorter, however Weigh is the same, though.
