Very nice Travis. You are missing all the fun up here with all the snow.

K-3, A-400, ƒ5.6 1/125s and 1/160s, ISO 400 cross posted everywhere (A club, K-3 images, show us your bokeh etc.)

It's been -30 here the last few nights, so I have to go out and feed the birds every day. You don't want to let your little feathered friends down when the weather gets brutal. I try and spend some time out there taking a few images. My hands froze real quick. But the birds seem enthusiastic....

Pine Grosbeak

The sun actually poked out for a few minutes today and I had some time to play a bit! Male and female pine grosbeak.

Great shots folks.
This is a female Stonechat ,these pictures were taken using my K-5/Sigma 500mm f4.5 EX DG on a Kirk window mount on the drivers side of my car. I managed to follow this bird up a track while driving one handed and holding the camera in my free hand, the bird perched on a post and I was able to coast to a great position while fixing the lens onto the Kirk mount.

Finally, a little brighter out today, and above zero; so I had a chance to take a few more images with my Tokina ATX SP 400!

These were shot at F8, 250 shutter speed. I also used my new Benro monopod, which I really love!

Anyone identify #1? It has the markings of a female Cassin's finch but the yellow around the throat makes me think it's something else.
The other bird is a Red-breasted Nuthatch; I love these little guys, along with the Chickadees.

It seems to be a variation of a house finch - House Finch Identification
