Originally posted by Kameko I had to google where Sparwood is, even then had to zoom out like crazy in google maps to get a major city as a reference point. You must get ALOT of other wildlife out your way. Moose? I've never seen one and have always wanted to. Brown bears? I've only seen one. I've also never seen a blue jay, just stellers and gray jays.
When I direct people to a map showing where Sparwood is, I usually describe it as:
From where Montana, Alberta and British Columbia borders meet on the map, go three miles West after following the Great/Continental Divide 30 miles North.
Our claim to fame is Elk, not moose, although we have them, too. Lots and lots of Elk. Really, really, really lots of elk. They are a major traffic hazard at certain seasons on Highways 43 (North from Sparwood to Elkford and more mines) and Highway 3. And elk will disable a Super B truck full of diesel fuel. The elk don't survive, but neither does the truck.
