This has been the worst Winter for cloud cover I have ever seen here which equals high ISO Eagle photos.

un-surprisingly more amazing shots from you guys. I'm sure everyone is excited about the new 150-450 and how it performs as am I.
Here a couple more shots of the juvenile kingfishers that I didn't put up to start with, and a pair of very friendly Bush Stone-Curlew's

Nice shots, Brodie.

Got very lucky today when I visited a local popular trail. Saw this barred owl on my way back to the car. My first encounter. I waited for it to fully open its eyes for a long while but it did not oblige.

Before that, I checked this local creek that reported to have a northern shoveler present. It is surprising that there is still open water as the temperature has been around -20 oC at night for the last week or so. Lucky to catch a few shots before it flew off.

I had a couple of decent results with the DA*300 and DA 1.4 TC today. I just wish the lens wouldn't suddenly wind all the way to minimum focus and stop. :P

Just FYI for Tair 300/4.5 fans. This is a modification that I finally got around to doing. Installed a simple push button switch into the trigger mechanism and soldered a Pentax/Canon Chinese remote cord to it. Now the K-5 fires via a simple short trigger pull. Some refinements are in order, but need to go field test shoot first.

Too cool! I have never seen that before. Coincidentally, I had a similar idea I was working on (with wood) which put the pistol grip further out under the lens for more support. The camera operates normally (no fancy trigger), you just have a grip for stability.

The 60-250 is a great landscape lens, but it really doesn't have the magnification for small critters that you are close to.

Yeah, I tend to believe it's really the magnification issue... This one I did not have to crop and the result is IMO not so bad.

Nice! I had a shoulder stock in about 1985 so I could hang together a CE4s, 80-200 zoom and a rather large flash. I wonder what happened to it?

I told my wife that this would be the right birthday gift but it does not look like she'd enthuse about this idea. Lucky guy who will purchase this lens... but it won't be me

The Sigma 100-300/4 is such an insanely versatile lens, I usually pack it (& the Sigma 1.4x TC) when we travel--especially if there's a chance for some wildlife shooting. Here are some shots from our recent trip to Cancun:

And the real trophy shot--an ant-eater
