From today with the DA*60-250, I decided to try just walking up instead of sitting in the blind with the TC. They didn't seem to mind, too much.

I had another afternoon in the garden today, K-5/Sigma 300mm f2.8 EX DG/Kirk window mount, my perches are working well.
Oh wow. Even pigeons have wonderful colors. Excellent pictures as usual.

This one is taken late this afternoon. Light is fading and the background is terrible but at least I got the eyes. Yeah!!

I took advantage of the spring-like weather today. First stop was one spot I know of for shorties. I found one, saw it for a brief second and only managed to snap one shot.

It's nesting time for the baldies. I must've had 10+ circling overhead today, with another 5+ guarding their nests.

Sparrows

I'm pretty sure both are White-throated sparrows. One black and white striped the other tan striped.

Thanks. Until I took up photography, I had no idea how many sparrow species there were.

Even the pigeons show up occasionally to observe the feeders.

Until I took up bird photography, a bird was just a bird.... as in "look at that bird".

There were birds that were starlings or pigeons or sparrows, and other birds that weren't starlings or pidgins or sparrows. And many birds that weren't sparrows, that I now know as finches, that got called sparrows.

In my case, I come from the Wet [sic] Coast of Canada. That's where one looks down when anyone asks "What is the largish white bird?" to avoid seagull exhaust. I didn't know anything about birds either. Except seagulls. We don't white wash our piers, they do.

This 300mm is believed to be tokina made and is quite good I think, even though it probably dates from the 1960's. A crop from a pic of the resident swan by the castle.
CFD of 8m / 25' limits it's usefulness.
