C-47 landing at Avalon airshow. I checked the background on the aircraft and it happened to have had its 70th birthday the day before!

Gorgeous. I wish I could afford that lens! Can I ask - does it focus quickly?

PS Has anyone tried the FA*300 f2.8?

Good shot of the Douglas C-47, Rob.
I also envy Philip's DA560, and I can't afford it either!!

Thanks on both counts. I saw the DA560 in Japan, and it was more like a telescope than a lens. It's a totally different beast to use from the DA*300, and while I'd love to have the reach of the lens, I just wouldn't use it enough to justify the price. So it's more that I can't afford to use it rather than not being able to afford to buy it.

I hope this doesn't get flagged for inappropriate. If so, I apologize in advance.

Pigeons mate for life. This pair happened to land next to me on the pier.

One of them put it's beak inside of the others and they started moving their heads in a figure-8 simultaneously. I believe the correct term is called "billing".

Next....

Afterwards, they didn't speak to each other for a few minutes.

Then, the male went up and gave the female a hug and started grooming her.
Did they relax smoking tiny cigarettes?

I'm someone else with a beer budget at the moment. The wife noticed how much I've been spending on my photo hobby and thought it a good time to get her cut with new living room decor. ;-{

With the weather so nice lately I'm sooo tempted to give that Russian 500mm 3M-5CA mirror lens a shot. For $150 it's not that much of a gamble and probably easy to sell if I don't care for it.
