Very nice.... I guess lying down in the mud to get an eye level shot of that shore bird, isn't an option?

A rail out in the open isn't going to stand still long enough for a person to lay down...

Had some early morning visitors this morning; here's one taken with the Tokina 400, hand held, & cropped.

Or otherwise you'd be right in there? ...

Is there going to be picture of you afterwards?

The sun came out and the parade of Finches has been rolling along all day.

I thought I would try my DA 55-300mm for some close-up work. This is the first time I have done it with this lens. The photo was taken at 260mm; 1/1250th of a sec @ f/5.6 with ISO 400. It was an interesting experiment and I think I will continue to work with it.

This was just about my best effort at catching the magpies colours. Funnily enough not with the 31A. but a CT300 1st gen 300mm f5.6 adaptall that I took along just to take some test pics...

Here's one woodpecker, which keeps visiting our feeder frequently (Sigma 150-500):

Your's is very nice too. Even though you're using a long focal length, it looks like you're right up on him.

Fabulous shots, Brodie. Remind me again what the problem is with AF?
It is incredibly slow and painful to try and capture birds in flight, and I think the contacts are dirty because sometimes the OS and AF don't work and I need to disconnect the lens and click it back in again.

I wonder if this is a problem between the K-3 and non-Pentax lenses? I get the same issue of the camera suddenly deciding that my Tamron 17-50 is a manual lens, and the only solution is the disconnect and reconnect the lens.
