Ruffed Grouse

I was fortunate to run into some brand new ruffed grouse today, I've never seen them this young before. I was surprised that even though they are just getting their wing feathers they were already able to fly up into a tree.

Third day out with the 560. I didn't think there'd be much of a difference in FL jumping from 400 up to 560, but now I can almost touch the birds

Yep and in full breeding plumage no less.

For us in N. American birders as a group, the most beautiful, and the most difficult to capture on camera, is the Wood Warblers.

Male Redstart (another warbler).....
