A Waterton Lakes National Park Rascal

This young black bear was giving the rangers a hard time. They were trying to chase him out of the campground with air horns, chalk balls and paint. For the two days they were trying to do this, the two year old simply moved to another patch of berries. When they got there, he went to another patch.

K10D, DA 55-300, ISO 400, 1/160" at f/8. I know its front focused, but I was not about to set up a tripod and focus carefully.

Nice capture - those bears tend to get your attention

I was watching if you (or others) would bid...

I think it will be fine (my guts feeling), and that you will enjoy it very much in the near future !

Congrats !

p.s. I have to admit that I envy you a bit

It's a beast, trust me. It's over twice the weight of an A*600mm. The glass required for the extra stop of light and the AF motor all add to the weight. Maybe start lifting a lot of weights.

Well done Gary.

Probably don't mount it on your car window: if it doesn't break the glass it might tip the car over!

Congrats on the new lens!
It almost makes my Sigma 300-800mm a lightweight
For that extra stop of light its well worth it.
