It's not possible to keep up with all the fantastic posts in this thread, there are so many and posted faster than I can reply. I don't want to leave anyone out, I view them all, but I particularly loved that little baby deer by Pearsaab. Same for those little sheep by Noelpolar.

I also love the Woodpecker story and shots by Pentaxians on the previous page...wonderful stuff! Everything here is interesting to my eyes!
Old Norm always posts the most fantastic shots....no need to say much more there!

I got my new Bigma 50-500 HSM OS in today, and haven't had but a few minutes to try it, but I think it will be excellent for my needs. Tomorrow I will get to have some fun with it!
These may be some of my last shots with my old Bigma original, a lens that has given me many hours of pleasure and fun.

My favorite!

Two "test" shots from the new Bigma using the Sigma OS. Seems to work pretty good at long range.

First test shot with the new Bigma was of a squirrel...for Good Luck!

Some sort of Eurasian dove on the cedar fence..was just handy to shoot late in the day.

Best Regards!

noelpolar......That is an excellent shot of a most handsome creature! I saw in the Exif that it was shot at f9 1/1000 and ISO 200......those are settings I would love to be able to use with my new Bigma but seldom am able to get below ISO 1600 when shooting out my office windows. I guess I need to get out and about more to get those kind of settings, your shot proves it does make a difference!

I never use a tripod, but if I had a tripod Caddy, I sure as heck would! Wonder how long you get to keep the Caddy....and how much is the renewal fee?

Regards!

Thanks Rupert....... Quite a bright blue sky day here today..... these long lenses seem to love the light! Nice to have some contrast in the shot with a distant bokeh type back ground. I don't tend to use a tripod either...... generally a walk and look kind of person.... thats how I enjoy myself the most.

You get some pretty amazing things happening on the other side of your office window!

These are the General settiong I put by default:

- Remove or customize High ISO NR (cause unsharp images)

OFF pour 100 - 400 (100-800)
LOW (1 bar) pour 800-3200 (1600-6400)
MED (2 bars) : 64k-128k (128k-512k)
HI (3 bars) : 254k - 512k.
- File Format : RAW (DNG) format
- Live view settings: Focus Peaking : ON
- anti-aliasing : off
- disable all three lens correction settings for prime lenses and premium zooms. Enable all three lens corrections for consumer zooms (kit lenses) to save post processing time.(
Ref: https://www.pentaxforums.com/reviews/pentax-k-3-review/recommended-settings.html)
- changed color from vibrant to natural by default (to prevent over saturated images)

for BIF (save as user preset #3):
- set Tav Mode, 1/800 and f7.1 By default,
-AUTO ISO Range 100-1600
- AF-C
- Custom settings:
- AF Hold Status : High (4) (i.e. priority to keep subject in focus.)
- center 9 points AF
- catch in focus on
- SR Off

I my have forgotten something else... I'll double check when I have some more time...
Thank you

Love those!...they are Otis' favorite birds, so cute! I think they are the only birdies he likes!
