I'm impressed luftluss, great sharpness, and impressive lack of fringing for a lens of the era+tc combo.
It is a good lens. It is much superior, in my experience, to the Tele Tak 300/6.3 preset.

I have not had anything to post here lately but I finally got out yesterday with my new Tamron 70-200 2.8. I really impressed with this lens and it certainly lives up to it's excellent reputation.

I am cheating a bit here since these were taken with the Tamron 1.4TC for 280mm. Taken on the K3 with the AF5401FGII flash.I was pleased with the autofocus since I was inside in poor light.

Female tufted ducks

We finally had a day when the sun shone and I could use Sigma 150 -500 without bumping up the ISO or having ti use too slow a shutter speed ISO 400 f8 @1/500

Thanks, luftfluss.
This was truly a strange circumstance where this Titmouse was just in a trance for almost 5 minutes on this branch (its mate was two branches above). Titmouses here usually just hit and run. The wind blew a few feathers up on one of these..

Our Red-winged Blackbirds (or the males at least) have been back for a week or two now (not this year's shots)

DA*300mm with 1.4xTC

DA 55-300mm

Interesting how the female has a bit of red in the wing as well.

Hello all!

I've been luckily enough to buy a very good copy of DA*300 for a very good price locally. I've bought it almost solely for birding purposes, but the lens proved to be excellent landscape lens, too. If you have plenty of open space, of course!

So there are couple of shots taken on a cloudy and wintery day here in Latvia:

Are you shooting through a chain-link fence?

That's probably a first year male, not a female.

Are you a hypnosis master who freezes birds by looking into their eyes so that you can get so close to them? Or this bird never saw a Pentax FA600 before so he wanted to look closer at the front glass element?

There was a hedge to the left of the bird and the sun was shining throught it.

Rather than rattle off loads of shots I always wait until the bird looks like it's in a pleasing position
