Excellent swallow pictures Franc, those little buggers are fast.

Superb shots Gary, love the turtle.

I'm cheating 20mm here. K3 + Tamron 70-200 2.8 + Tamron 1.4TC for 280mm. I'm really impressed with how well this combination focused indoors in low light. Another one of the resident birdsat Meijer Gardens.

I got something a little different today. It had been raining all morning. I went to see if the Night Herons were building their nests in the pine trees where I saw them at this time last year.

Is his tongue growing through the bottom of his beak? I noticed it as he was vomiting, and he flew off shortly after. This is the only other pic I got that really shows it.

K-3 DA*200 and HD DA 1.4 TC

My guys are still eating me out of house and home, but the good weather is coming for the weekend, I'm expecting most of them will head north. With our rescued dog, came a bag of dog food. We looked at it, it's a very popular brand, the most popular in the United States sold at Wallmrt, and it's more than half corn. My first thought was "we aren't feeding that to the dogs". The second thought was "Blue Jays love corn." You can guess what happened next....

"Look what I found. Something new."

"I have to hide this somewhere no one else will find it."

I used audiobomber's tracking formula now programmed into the U1 function button. It slows my frame rate down to about 2 frames a second. I suspect this is not a small bird in flight solution.

Meanwhile the Pine Siskins are becoming regulars at the Suet cage.

Although they continue to continuously attack the other feeders.

Still looking for slightly unusual things, I took this one looking the other way from the feeders. That's different for me, maybe not so much for anyone else.

Of course, every now and then I catch one just taking a break from all the excitement around the feeders, even a bird can only take so much.

Finally had an opportunity to go out with the newly acquired K-5iis and A*-300. Took 130 pictures, the following are the best of the bunch. Not nearly as good as other members but it's a start.
You may want to use a smaller aperture especially when this lighting is good.

The siskins at my feeder are dwindling. I see mostly redpolls now. Nice shots.

Red tail hawk from this morning.

American Kestrel from this afternoon.

For some reason, I always have problem getting sharp focus on these guys.

Hemppo, I like the lines in your image. I find the along the line perspective interesting.

Is that in a place which gets very high winds and a lot of thunder storms? It looks like a very wide PI structure for such a low voltage, only 110kV. Most places I have seen space 132kV so that a single earth wire above can give the lightning protection.

Thanks for the comment! This is pretty much the "standard" structure for 110kV lines here in Finland. They are usually always protected with two lightning protection wires. This is pretty small country so 110kV is very usual and important voltage for areal networks so they are built to be quite sturdy even though weather phenomenons are not so vicious here. Actually there is only two higher voltage levels in use - 220kV and 400kV.
