Great shots Noel and great news about the AF.C with the K-1. Must be a significant improvement in focusing speed and tracking. I may have to order a K-1 for wildlife as a placeholder for the K-3 follow on.

Lens calibration done. There is NO front/back focusing issue here, and my setting at 0 should be fine....

Don't know if this translates to humans, but I just got a report that being shot with the K1 increases virility in squirrels....I do believe it is plain that it does!

The joys of the new AF and new SR cannot be overstated! This is a wonderful camera!

Regards!

Thanks Noel...all it took was the K1 out of the bx and I was an instant Pro!

People often ask me...."Rupert, we know they are wild animals, but can you get up close and personal without danger?"

A rare event this morning......I got out from behind my desk and window shooting and went out into the treacherous woods. It was a little scary, my hands were shaky, but I knew the new SR would adjust for them. I only stayed long enough for a couple of shots....I could tell by his look that he might pounce on my face at any moment, he was not happy to see me!

Both ISO 6400 1/100 handheld @ 500mm

Being a Pro is dangerous work!

Regards!

Do we need endless threads about this or that review or all the other gearhead ones when Rupert sums it all up in two brief sentences.

No, not really, those two sentences do tell the story. It is not fiction and it is not a fairytale, it is as real as it gets! While I don't have the skills or the glass that most in this thread have, I don't have to to know that this is not just another Pentax. This is a whole new game.
Maybe I go overboard on my praise, but it is hard not to, it is all the absolute truth!

Regards!

I took a trip to Presque'ile Provincial Park yesterday. I saw a few birds i couldn't have seen at home on my back yard, but they were too quick to photograph.

K-3 and DA*200 F 1.7x AF adapter and HD DA 1.4 TC stacked for 476mm shooting at ƒ8

Sometimes with a long set up you can be too close...

Mr. and Mrs. Rose Breasted Grosbeak

A Song Sparrow

A Malard, just hanging around in a swamp, just off the Parkway. If it quacks like a duck...

A bird from CFB Trenton, just down the road.

On the beach

That might be the best Martin image I've ever seen.

DA*200 with stacked 1.7 and 1.4 TCs.

To go with the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks yesterday at Presque'ile, Evening Grosbeaks today at my feeder.

And a Goldfinch....
