ISO 6400 F6.3 1/25 sec hand held lens OS off camera SR on. It was late in the afternoon.
You advice / opinions on how I have used the lens sought. Kind regards.
I love owls too!
...and I love my Bigma 50-500. I have hundreds of shots handheld at 1/125 or lower with plenty decent results. My current Bigma is HSM OS and I use the SR on my K1 instead...it is superior to the Sigma OS. Same with my K5IIs...found SR better and faster there too.
I loved your shot... I think it is mostly a matter of processing. I prefer it like this.....hope you don't mind.
As a general guide, I find that 1/200 will get you a decent handheld Bigma shot most of the time. Anything faster is gravy, and I'll take it when I can!
Here is one I just shot as I was typing this......1/125 @ 500mm handheld. (Shot in K1 Crop Mode and cropped another 50% in processing)
One I shot earlier today also 1/125 handheld @ 500mm
There is some blur when subjects are on a limb that may be moving a little in the breeze...and SR won't help that. It takes some time to figure out what you can do with a Bigma.....many just give up too fast. It takes time and practice at handholding to find your best bracing positions...I use one elbow against my chest quite often. You're doing great...just keep going!
Best Regards!
