Round 2. Success.

1/640 was a bit slow for the action.

Food bites back.

The heron takes the crab to the grass to remove its legs.

He dips it in the water, and down it goes.

Even better series than the last!

Where is this shot?
Looks like a blue crab.

Ken said he was waiting for my posts of rare Lewes DE finches, sparrows and other endangered birds - managed to capture a few today with K3 Sigma 500 4.5 plus Pentax 1.4TC. What do you think Ken - worth a trip halfway around the world

Well, it's better than getting all flustered and panicky, which is what I usually do on the rare occasion I get a chance at a great shot.

Thanks for posting - since I am still undecided about getting the K1 plus 150-450 for wildlife photography. This shows significant cropping is possible with good photographer technique. I am still awaiting the forum review.
Look for a similar pair I posted on the POST YOUR K1 IMAGES thread, of starlings bathing in a mud puddle, with crop of one bird. They were in shadow, so shutter speed a little slow and fast wing/body motions are blurred, but the head & beak tell the tale of IQ potential.
