Brand New K-3II - Photo Number 2

Just got a brand new K-3II yesterday. Seems to work well with the DF A 150-450 . . . I screwed up the settings, thought I was shooting raw but was shooting JPEG. This is a crop, no post at all.

I hate zooms, but this lens is making a believer out of me. May have to sell the DA*300 (sniff, sob).

BTW: Eastern Phoebe, Northern Virginia.

Mating season for the Golden-backed Weaver. The male are busy constructing the nest to attract the female.

It's a stunning lens. Get the 1.4 TC and it's all you should ever need ☺

Forgot to check my settings before I went for a walk tonight. Left it in M mode and ISO 400. Only got a few salvageable shots.
Oh yeah! Done that too. Especially prone to leaving exposure bracketing on after shooting landscapes and coming across wildlife!

You missed the tail. That why I use my zoom, so I can zoom out if I'm too tight. Looks like you're experiencing the joy of having learned to be proficient on something, then you buy something better, and all the sudden life is easier. But only until you discover you can now do new stuff, that also tests the limits of your new equipment. Then it's same old same old.

K-3, DA*200 and F 1.7x AF adapter.
ƒ5.6, 400 ISO, AV

The DA*200 and 1.7 which give me 340mm and ƒ4.5 seems to have become pretty much my walk around lens these days. I put the 70 macro on the tripod and took it out with me, but I never used it once. The DA* 200 is easily hand holdable, so none of these images used a tripod. Yet I had not one image ruined by motion blur, in fact they are all incredibly sharp. I know it's all K-1 this K-1 that right now, better AF blah blah blah, but, how do you improve on 100% AF accuracy?

From my time out today, I sat for at least a half hour in the blind and saw, a couple of Blue Jays and a Nut hatch, that were in and out so fast I got no pictures.

My one shot taken from the blind.... well this was taken yesterday without the 1.7. Ones taken today with the 1.7 didn't have enough DoF.

For some reason there were 8 of these guys on a canoe that was on the lawn. For some reason they like Kevlar and Resin

But I did manage to get one guy on a birch tree, after I spooked him.

Tess prefers this crop, so I better put it in.

There are maybe 3 Blue Jays to be seen from the blind and a couple of squirrels and chipmunks, but there are lot's of flowers in the gardens.

We have a Robin nesting on our porch. She built her nest and laid her eggs while we were away, so she has to learn to live with us. We try and go out the basement door. But, she's getting pretty good at ignoring us when we don't. This one taken from 15 feet away.

Sitting on top of the wood shed after returning from a mission. Waiting for the coast to be clear so she can return to the nest.

From now on when people ask what to get for a walk around lens I'm going to suggest the DA*200 ƒ2.8 and F 1.7x AF adapter. It works for me. I guess it just depends on where you walk around

My minds cringes, just because you know that.

QuoteQuote:
Like all perchers, common whitetails often rest on objects near the water, and sometimes on the ground. Males are territorial, holding a 10 to 30 metre stretch of the water's edge, and patrolling it to drive off other males. The white pruinescence on the abdomen, found only in mature males, is displayed to other males as a territorial threat.[3]
So, I should look for the males down near the river? Are these females hoping to hitch a ride down to the river when I carry the canoe down? Is that their secret plan? Well, I'm not going canoeing today, so it's not going to work out for them.

Thanks for the link, it's appreciated.

I saw this Yellow Wagtail on a ridgeway track it was in front of my car. I did not have my Kirk window mount fitted so I had to switch on the shake reduction and just rest my K-5/FA*600mm F4 ED[IF] on the top of the door trim as a result I don't think the images are quite as sharp as when I use the mount.
The other problem that I now have is the estate car that I use is my girlfiends company car and it's due for renewal. I have tried the Kirk mount and FA*600mm in a couple of new estate cars and it wont go through the window
