Northern Flicker takes a bath.

Here is a bath sequence all over a couple of minutes. we often leave a small bowl of water on the back deck for the critters, but here a Northern flicker decided it was a bird bath.

Out on the water again early this morning. This is the first time I shot from a boat floating in the waves. I need more experience shooting from a boat that bobs up and down and floats with the tide. These shots were taken with a monopod K3 DA 300 wide open and Pentax 1.4 TC. ISO was 640 - probably could have used a slower shutter but the waves seemed pretty strong. While I feel the K3 autofocus tracking is not as good as I would like, there is nothing to fault with the K3's ability to focus, even in tough conditions. The first three are significant crops of a parent scolding a juvenile. I drifted in closer to take the next three shots, the first is without a crop. He spotted me and left when I moved closer

Hi, one person I know is looking for a birding lens for its new acquired K-1 (he was using a Canon Bridge before). He's asking me what would be the best FF lens with AF for that, under 1600$ (CAN).
The only answer I am thinking of, would be the Sigma's 50-500 or 150-500 OS version...

the next step would be the DFA150-450, but it's 1000$ more...

I am missing something, or this is really the only options he would have ? (all used only, and pretty hard to find)

The fact is that if you aren't already invested in Pentax, and need a consumer grade long zoom, you shouldn't be buying a Pentax...
