(x-post in the HD TC 1.4x thread)
Another test with the HD TC and the K-1 + FA*250-600
this time, I had similar images of the same bird in similar light conditions. Images had no PP, except cropping to fit them about the same size in the picture frame
The First image is without Teleconverter. Image cropped to 1843x1230 to get the bird fill the frame the same size as next image.

The next image is With HD Pentax-DA AF Rear Converter 1.4x AW. Image cropped to 2617x1747 to get the same bird size as previous image without converter.

I think the HD Pentax-DA AF Rear Converter 1.4x AW does a better job when the subject is close (a small as these little birds). They were about 15-20 feet distance...
when the subject is far, the HD TC increases any image issues like loss of details etc... (not sure how to translate this) whereas when the subject is closer, there are less of these issues, then the 1.4x magnification contribute more to the overall gain in details... especially useful when the subject is small and doesn't fill the frame.
So, in conclusion, when the subject is far, there is not real gain when using the HDTC... just try to get closer.

Thanks for the compliment (and for the comments with some of the likes!)!
I guess you meant the "K-1"... but yes the bird was in a different angle for the K-1, it was more direct backward as the image with K-3II were a bit in angle...
not sure why the bokeh is that different though...
but the shots with the K-3 were a bit more under exposed (you can see the exif on Flickr)
