The IQ standard here has gotten outrageously high--this should fix that.

Ya but it's got entertainment value..... you should have everyone think up a caption for that one, in the captions thread.

Dave, he reminds me of a crow in a Disney cartoon - thanks for the chuckle

Ferruginous Hawk

here is a sequence--- not of the greatest quality as I was trying to use an improvised support with a fa600 plus a 1.4x extender.
but I was interested in the the way that this large bird commenced flying.

Hahaha, nice one OR better called snake swallowing Hawk

---------- Post added 08-17-16 at 10:29 PM ----------

Went out to take some pictures of shore birds. Last few days they are coming in decent numbers. There were few of us shooting and from nowhere came Peregrin Falcon chasing birds and spoiled the party. In the split of second shore birds were gone. This Peregrin Falcon done this few times here. They got to eat too
Luckily there was this Great Blue Heron doing some stretching with the wings and some Blue-winged Teal taking nap.

Shot with K-1 and SMC 500mm f/4.5

Nice sequence of Great Blue Heron stretching.

Blue-winged Teal

I wonder: when a new bird lands on the wire, is it akin to a log-rolling contest?

Lovely series. The old "bazooka" is in fine hands.

EDIT: I had the confirmation from a trustworthy source that it is indeed a Long-Billed Dowitcher [Limnodromus scolopaceus]

Nice shots. I love the shots when taken nice and low, close to water level in this case.
